Pakistan’s flood-affected areas see increase in water-borne diseases
September 2, Kathmandu: Health officials in Pakistan have said that there is an outbreak of water-borne diseases due to severe floods in the past few weeks.
Al Jazeera quoted health workers as saying that there had been a sharp increase in cases of diarrhoea, skin diseases, and eye problems in temporary camps built by the government for those displaced by the floods.
Al Jazeera reported that more than 90,000 diarrhoea patients were found in the most-affected Sindh province.
1,200 people have died and more than 33 million have been displaced due to monsoon rain and floods in Pakistan.
