Kathmandu: President Vidhya Devi Bhandari has held discussions with CPN Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and other leaders regarding the citizenship bill.
In the discussion held at President’s office in Sitalniwas, Maoist Centre Chair Prachanda expressed his grief over the politicization of the citizenship bill that was introduced to amend the Nepal Citizenship Act 2006.
The Maoist Centre Chairman also clarified that the Citizenship bill was brought to end the situation of statelessness to the descents of citizens by birth.
The Maoist centre chair is said to have told president Bhandari that the bill was brought as per the provision of ordinance presented by the then prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and issued by the president herself.
During the discussion, Chairman Prachanda was accompanied by other leaders Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Barshaman Pun and Janardan Sharman.
