Rasuwa: A landslide triggered by incessant rainfall last night completely disrupted a highway along the Banuwa Ghumti area in southern Rasuwa, the district in Bagmati Province.

As the District Police Office Rasuwa said, the landfall caused the road cave-in between Majhgaun and Banuwa Ghumti at Uttargaya rural municipality-5 which lies in the southern part of the district in the Himalayan region.

The disaster has its implications for settlement in the lower areas. Likewise, it has caused significant damage to crops.

However, no human casualty has been reported from the incident. Until the filing of this report, preparations were on to resume the traffic and the collections of the loss details were going on since the morning. It is said vehicular movements at Betrawati, Pahirebensi, and Mailukhu have been totally halted following the landslides.

Gosaikunda, the country’s one famous religious site, draws a large number of devotees to take a holy dip in a freshwater lake here on Janai Purnima. As the police administration said vehicles available locally will be mobilised to transport Goasaikunda pilgrims to the destination safely.
