Indigenous Nepali women disagreed with idea of branding local alcohol

Kathmandu: The indigenous women of Nepal have disagreed with the idea of branding the local alcohol.   

They claimed that the branding of local liquor would hamper the traditional knowledge and traditional economic structure of indigenous women.

Saying branding of local liquor would benefit certain business houses only hampering the traditional values of indigenous women, they also demanded that the indigenous women should be allowed to produce local liquor without hindrance.

Talking part in the discussions organized by the National Indigenous Women Federation on the occasion of 28th World Indigenous Day today, the speakers expressed their discontent with branding the local brew.

National Indigenous Women Front Chair Suni Lama said branding of local was against indigenous women and if patent right to be given that should be given to indigenous women.
