Hong Kong celebrating completion of 25 years of return to China

July 1, Kathmandu: Today marks the completion of 25 years since Hong Kong was returned to China from British rule. 

Chinese President Xi Jinping is in Hong Kong to attend a special event to mark the day today. 

According to local media, various events will be held across the city to mark the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to China. 

The city of Hong Kong, which had been leased from China for 99 years, was returned by the UK in 1997. Since then it is being ruled with autonomy under the principle of “one country, two systems”.
