Stakeholders stress keeping the marriageable age intact at 20 years in Nepal

Kathmandu: The concerned stakeholders have stressed keeping the marriageable age intact at 20 years in Nepal.

In an interaction program organized by Children as Zone of Peace Campaign in Kathmandu today, experts claimed that 20 years would be an appropriate minimum marriageable age.

Chairman of Law and Human Rights Committee under the House of Representatives Krishna Bhakta Pokhrel said it was not appropriate to reduce the marriageable age from 20 years.

Similarly, Chairman of Women and Social Committee of the House Niru Devi Pal, National Concern Committee Chair of the National Assembly Parbati Rawal among others also stressed not reducing the minimum marriageable age from 20 years.
