World Fair Trade Day to be celebrated in Nepal on June 4 and 11

June 2, Lalitpur: World Fair Trade Day 2022 is going to be celebrated in Nepal on June 4 and 11.

The Fair Trade Group Nepal (FTGN) is leading the celebration of the World Fair Trade Day in Nepal at the call of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO).

World Fair Trade Day is celebrated every year on the second Saturday of May.

This year World Fair Trade Day was celebrated globally on May 14, but it could not be celebrated in Nepal on that day due to the local level elections. Hence, it is being celebrated on June 4 and June 11 in Nepal.

Organizing a press conference in Lalitpur on Thursday, Chairperson of FTGN, Dr Sunil Chitrakar, informed that the World Fair Trade Day 2022 was celebrated on May 14 with the theme “Climate Justice” with Slogan “Let’s do it fair”. FTGN is organizing a rally on June 4, (Saturday) and Trade Fair and Exhibition on June 11 (Saturday) to celebrate World Fair Trade Day.

Chitrakar said that World Fair Trade Day celebrations this year coincided with FTGN’s silver jubilee.

“The rally is scheduled to begin at 7:00 AM from Bhrikutimandap with a march through Ratnapark, Bhotahiti, Bangemuda, Bhedasingh, Indrachowk, and Makhan, and will conclude at Basantapur Durbar Square,” Chitkrakar said.

The organizers have informed that over 1,000 individuals from member organizations, partners, and stakeholders will be joining the rally.

“Trade fair and exhibition will be organized in Yak Palace, Pulchowk, displaying handicrafts, agro-food, and NTFP products. Over 2,500 visitors are anticipated at the fair,” Chitrakar informed.
