One worker missing and another injured in Solukhola DudhKoshi Hydropower Project accident in Solukhumbu

Solukhumbu: One worker has gone missing and another injured in an accident inside the tunnel of the 86 MW Solukhola Dudhkoshi Hydropower Project under construction in Solukhumbu district.

The accident took place when an excavator broke while it was carrying the penstock pipe inside the tunnel.

The workers in the bucket of the excavator had fallen into the tunnel after the excavator broke while carrying the water pipe inside the tunnel.

24-year-old Rakesh Chaudhary of Kolvi Municipality-1 of Bara district is said to be missing inside the tunnel and 20-year-old Angad Rai Tharu of Paterwa Rural Municipality-4 in Parsa district was injured in the incident.

He is taken to Mission Hospital in Okhaldhunga for treatment. The condition of the injured Tharu is said to be normal. Preparations are underway to airlift the injured to Kathmandu for further treatment.

According to the project, machine-operated buckets are used to transport people as well as construction materials inside the tunnel route.
