Silent period for NA election begins

January 24, Kathmandu: The silent period for National Assembly (NA) election slated for January 26 has begun from midnight on Sunday.

Election Commission spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel said election-related campaign had been prohibited from midnight itself.

In a press statement released by the Commission on Sunday, the Commission ordered that the publicity materials and electoral signs should be removed from the polling centers, and campaigning through digital platform such as Facebook and Viber are also forbidden.

The Commission also urged one and all to comply with the election code of conduct.
