Israeli Embassy initiates environment conservation campaign by collecting used batteries (audio report)

January 3, Kathmandu: The Israeli Embassy has initiated an environment conservation campaign under the slogan, “Stop Pollution: Collect Used Batteries” in cooperation with different schools in the Kathmandu Valley.

According to the Israeli Embassy, the goal of the project is to prevent soil pollution by collecting hazardous electronic waste like used batteries.

The Embassy of Israel cooperated with schools of the valley including Kathmandu Pragya Kunja School, Shanti Sikshya School, KMC School, Kavya School, among others for reducing pollution with individual initiation taken by their students.

Accordingly, the students collected used batteries, brought them to the school, which later were taken for recycling at DOKO Recyclers.

On Monday, an event was held at Kathmandu Pragya Kunja School to hand over collected used batteries with an important message of the responsibility of an individual towards a cleaner environment.

The jars of batteries were collected and handed over to DOKO Recyclers.

On the occasion, Minister of Forests and Environment Ramsahay Prasad Yadav said human activities were hampering themselves, flora, fauna, and nature, as a whole, and such initiative would definitely contribute to environmental protection.

Ambassador of Israel to Nepal Hanan Goder said the natural treasure of Nepal was too important to be neglected and Israel was proud to be a part of such an initiative.
