Minister Ale for enlisting Ram Janaki Temple in World Heritage site

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Prem Bahadur Ale, has said he would take initiative to enlist the Ram Janaki Temple of Janakpurdham in the World Heritage site.

 Minister Ale said it during his address to a programme organized by Mithila Cultural Society on the occasion of Shree Ram Janaki Bibaha festival, 2078 here Saturday. The Ram Janaki Temple is the heritage of civilization, so my efforts would be for its identity across the globe, he reiterated. The defenders and researchers of Maithili civilization have been lobbying to enlist the temple in the World Heritage site for long but in vain. Various festivals are observed in the premises of Ram Jananaki Temple celebrating the virtues of Lord Ram.

Even the cultural programmes are held. The Bibaha Panchami festival is being marked on December 8. Bibaha Panchami is the day prince Ram from Ayodhya got married to princess Janaki from Mithila in the Dwapar era. It is a special celebration continued since then.

The devotees from the country and even from India attend the festival enthusiastically. At the programme, Minister Ale vowed to extend support from the government side to protect Mithila art, culture and civilization. He honoured various persons contributing to the development and promotion of Mithila culture. –
