Chinese Prez Xi’s visit to Tibet important for China-Nepal connectivity

July 23, Lhasa: Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday visited the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) becoming the first General-Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to Visit Tibet in the last thirty years.  Before Xi, sitting Chinese Communist Party chief Jiang Zemin had visited the region in 1990.

During his visit, Xi inspected a number of key local infrastructure projects including the Sichuan-Tibet Railway project and the Lhasa-Nyingchi rail line . 

Nepal has a special interest in infrastructure development in Tibet in terms of enhancing China-Nepal connectivity.
