400 oxygen cylinders to be brought from China in first phase


Kathmandu, May 8: The Government of Nepal (GoN) will be bringing 400 empty oxygen cylinders from China in the first phase.

A meeting of Covid -19 Crisis Management Centre (CCMC) held on Friday under the chair of its coordinator and Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokhrel decided to bring 400 cylinders, out of 20,000, in the first phase from the northern neighbour, according to DPM’s press advisor Ganesh Pandey.

Nepal Airlines Corporation’s wide-body aircraft will be leaving for China on May 10 for bringing the empty cylinders. The Chinese government, at the call of GoN, has decided to give 20,000 empty oxygen cylinders to Nepal at a time the country is struggling with the massive spread of the Covid-19.

Of the agreed assistance, 2,000 cylinders will be brought by planes and the remaining 18,000 will be brought via land route.
