South Asian Leaders to Hold Video Conference
Kathmandu, March 13: The South Asian leaders are holding a video conference on Sunday to prepare a unified strategy to prevent and control the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the region.
According to the South Asian Association For Regional Co-Operation (SAARC) Secretariat, the heads of state/government SAARC member states will hold the video conference at 5:15 P.M on Sunday Nepali Standard Time (NST). Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had proposed the video conference in order to mitigate the risks posed by global coronavirus pandemic.
Nepal currently chairs the SAARC.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will be representing Nepal, as the head of the government, in the video conference.
Apart from Nepal, heads of state/government and the health ministers of Afghanistan, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka will take part in the video conference.
