Gandaki Province to be made sports capital : CM Gurung

Lamjung : Gandaki Province’s Chief Minister Prithivi Subba Gurung has said that Gandaki Province would be made the capital of sports.

In the closure of the 29th Tribeni Cup’s final match organised by Tribeni Youth Club at Besishahar in Lamjung on Sunday, CM Gurung asserted that Gandaki province had proved its mettle to be a sport capital by organising international sport event like recently held 13th South Asian Games.

Pokhara was one among the 3 venues (Kathmandu and Janakpur) where 8 out of 26 sports disciplines of the 13th SAG had taken place from December 1-10 last year.

Stating that the provincial government was preparing to host the League Competition in Pokhara very soon, the CM pledged utmost support for the promotion of sports sector in his province.

Saying that the provincial government would provide compensation for the procurement of lands at Besishashar to build a sports ground.

In the final match of 28th Tribeni Cup held today, Tribeni Youth Club had emerged a winner by beating Bhagawati Tokha, Kathmandu 1-0.

CM Subba awarded the winning team with a cash prize of Rs 300,000 along with Tribeni Cup and a certificate while the first runner up team got a cash prize of Rs 150,000 and a silver medal.
