Visit Nepal Year 2020 kicks off Today

Kathmandu : The government is all set to launch the Visit Nepal Year (VNY) on the first day of New Year 2020 on Today. The VNY 2020 being marked as the national celebration will be launched amidst a special function at Dasharath Stadium, Kathmandu.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari is formally inaugurating the campaign where Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will make special address.

The VNY 2020 Secretariat has informed that all preparations were completed. The guests to attend the event will be welcomed by the celebrities. The inaugural to begin at 4:00 PM is to continue for five hours. The cultural pageants by the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Army be a special attraction.

Even a human chain in VNY 2020 will be formed in the Stadium following the national anthem. A national song for the VNY is being released on the occasion. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation is giving a welcome remark.

The government has planned to bring in 2 million foreign tourists in the VNY 2020.

In order to attend the special event, ministers and special guests have arrived in Kathmandu from various countries including China and India.

Minister Bhattarai has viewed that the promotional activities and infrastructure development would be augmented to ensure 10 percent contribution from tourism to the gross national product. Currently, the tourism has 3 percent contribution to the GDP. The 15th periodic plan has set tourism as a priority sector.

He argued that even the tourism decade could be marked by making 2020 a base year.
