Mass Tripitak recitation begins in Lumbini

Lumbini, Nov 14: A mass Tripitak recitation has begun in Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, regarded as the apostle of world peace. The programme was inaugurated by Chief Minister at the State-5, Shankar Pokharel by lighting lamps.

On the occasion, CM Pokharel shared that the state government was forwarding effective plans to promote tourism in the area.

Monks, nuns as well as Buddhist practitioners from altogether 25 countries including Nepal, India, Sri-Lanka, Japan, Thailand, China, Myanmar and Vietnam have participated in the event.

Organized by the Tripitak Chanting Organizing Committee, State-5 Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment, Lumbini Development Trust and Thai Monastery in Lumbini, the event is being held in the Mayadevi Temple.

The three-day event will see chanting of three Buddhist Holy Scriptures, under the Tripitak such as ‘Binayapitak’, ‘Sutrapitak’ and ‘Abhidhammapitak’.
