Kathmandu, Nov. 7: President Bidya Devi Bhandari stressed the need for spreading the message of beautiful landscapes of plain, mountainous and hilly areas of Nepal to the world through films.
The President lauded the film fraternity for its contribution to the development of the country’s culture and language. Inaugurating the ‘Nepali Film Golden Festival, 2076 BS’ organized in Birgunj on the occasion of the 54th anniversary of Nepali Film Screening today President Bhandari stressed the need for film sector to help eradicate social evils like witchcraft, child marriage, and dowry through movies.
On the occasion, President Bhandari honoured photographer Baikuntha Maskey, film editor Tirtha Raj Shrestha and Pradip Kediya. Likewise, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Banskota viewed that the film industry should not be taken only as a means of entertainment, but it should help the sentimental connection between mountain, hill, and Tarai through creation.
