Tihar festival begins from today

October 26: The five-day festival of lights also known as Tihar begins from today.

The first day of Tihar is being observed offering worship to crow. Crow is also regarded as ‘the messenger of death’.

Crows are worshipped with offerings of sweets and dishes placed on the roofs of houses. The cawing of crows symbolizes sadness and grief in Hinduism.

Devotees believe that the offerings will help avert grief and death in their homes.
