At least 12 people killed and 50 injured in Sindhupalchok bus accident

October 11 : At least twelve people were killed and over 50 others injured when a passenger bus skidded off the road and fell around 200 meters at Badahere Chowk in Indrawati rural municipality-10, Sindhupalchok, said the police.

They died on the spot.

According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhav Prasad Kafle, the death toll may increase as detail information of the accident is awaited. The rescue efforts are underway with the help of an excavator.

The deceased people among identified are  Kedar Nath Mahaju, Snagita Purkoti  of Kavre, Hira Shrestha, Binod Lamsal of Indrawati and Ritesh Acharya. Similarly, the remaining deceased people have not been identified yet.

The ill-fated bus belonging to Helambu Yatayat was headed to Kathmandu.

The bus was carrying 70 passengers.
