1st October : Speaker of the House of Representatives, Krishna Bahadur Mahara has resigned from his post effective from today.
Speaker Mahara has written his resignation letter addressing to the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives. He has clarified that his resignation came to assist the impartial investigation until the process concluded.
Earlier, the secretariat meeting of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) today advised Speaker Mahara to resign from the post stating the party had serious consideration regarding the news spread in the media that accused him of abusing a parliament secretariat staffer.
The spokesperson of Nepal Communist Party, Narayan Kaji Shrestha informed the media persons that the secretariat meeting of the party held at prime minister’s residence in Baluwatar today urged speaker Mahara to assist in the impartial investigation by resigning from the office.
