Communications Minister Gokul Prasad Banskota says there is eternal relationship between democracy and press

September 19, Kathmandu : Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Banskota today pointed out relations between democracy and the press as lively.

Minister Banskota also urged the Gorkhapatra Corporation to produce its quality and competitive publications. Regional broadcasting of Nepal Television would be started from Itahari in Sunsari districts in the near future, added Minister Banskota.

On the occasion, expressing happiness at Nepal’s oldest daily, Gorkhapatra publishing from Biratnagar, Minister for Internal Affairs and Law of State 1, Hikmat Kumar Karki suggested that the newspaper should transform itself with time. “Democracy will strengthen once all government media are strong,’ he said. Mayor of Biratnagar Metropolitan City, Bhim Parajuli stressed the need for the 119-year-old newspaper to become a voice for the voiceless by disseminating authentic news.
