Mass Communications Media Act prioritizes self-regulation in media: Minister Baskota

September 4,Kathmandu – Communications and Information Technology Minister Gokul Pd Baskota has reiterated that the media council bill that is under consideration in the parliament will solve all the problems seen in the media sectors.

Receiving the 14 point-memorandum submitted by the Federation of Nepalese Journalists at Singh Durbar today, the Communication Minister said the bill will sort out not only the problems seen in the journalism but also in new areas or communication.

The memo submitted by Acting chair of the journalist federation Dilip Thapa Magar has drawn the government attention to the international practices of freedom to expressions enshrined in the constitution and has asked to guarantee the right of people. The memo also asked the government to implement working journalist act, accept media as communication industries, manage online media, and implement proportional advertisement policy setting up Advertisement board.
