National Assembly Approves Police Bill 2076 B.S
August 22, Kathmandu: Today’s meeting of the National Assembly has unanimously approved the Police Personnel Adjustment Bill 2076 BS and the Bill to Govern the Process of Operation, Supervision, and Coordination of Nepal Police and Provincial Police 2076 BS.
The bills presented by Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa in today’s meeting were approved by the assembly. Presenting the bill before the national assembly, Home Minister Thapa had urged the assembly to pass the bill as soon as possible as the peace and security were affected after the bills related to security were brought lately.
Lawmaker Radheshyam Adhikari raised the question over the transfer of secretaries within a month right after the commencement of the meeting. Meanwhile, lawmaker Bimala Rai appreciated the decision taken by the parties to defend for the protection of democracy.
Answering the queries of the lawmakers, Home minister Thapa clarified that the bills were brought as per the principle of federalism to maintain coordination between Nepal police and province police.
