August 10, Dhadhing : The number of people killed in a bus accident took place this morning at Salangghat of Benighat Rorang rural municipality-3 in Dhadhing has reached nine.
The bus fell some 100 meters down from the road and plunged into the Trishuli River as it reached a turning point.
District Police Office, Dhading chief Superintendent of Police Rajkumar Badiwar informed three had died on the spot. Among the deceased the identified were Ajay Das and Bijay Kurmi while the identity of the others is yet to be ascertained.
More than 20 passengers are still missing, while 16 of the injured are undergoing treatment in Kathmandu and other hospitals nearby.
The transport committee confirmed that it registered 45 passengers on the bus. Nepal police, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and volunteers from Red Cross Nepal involved in the rescue efforts.
SP Baidawar said the search for the missing passengers, suspected to have been swept away by the river, is underway.
