NC President Duwa accuses government of being autocratic

Bhaktapur, August 3: Nepali Congress President Ser Bahadur Deuwa has accused the government of being autocratic on the pretext of 2/3 majority.

Lunching a book penned by writer Dipendra Raj Giri at Kaushltar of Bhaktapur today, Congress President Deuba accused Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli of becoming autocratic by consolidating powers within himself.

Congress President Deuba further criticized that PM is trying to bring Army and Police under him, and making attempts to tamper the independent judiciary. Stating that press freedom is fundamental for press independence and civic right, he claimed that the government is trying to curtail the press freedom.

He warned the government of street protest if the government curtails the people’s rights guaranteed by the constitution. Meanwhile, he directed the Nepali Congress leaders and cadres to stand by democracy and be ready to safeguard it.
