July 6, Birgunj : A massive fire that broke out in cooking oil industry in Birgunj Metropolitan City-21 since wee hours today has yet to come under control.
Joint efforts of fire engines from various places of Parsa and Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police have not been enough to tame the blaze, said Chief District Office Narayan Prasad Bhattarai.
Additional fire engines from Birgunj, Pokhara, Simara, and Amalekhgunj have been called to douse the fire, he added. Firefighting foam is required to douse the blaze. But it is in short supply. Efforts were underway to bring firefighting foam from Motihari in India or Kathmandu, he said.
Detail information about the loss in the fire is yet to come, said the police. A short-circuit is suspected to have caused the fire.
