Kathmandu, June 24: Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has said efforts have been continued for a long time to seek a political solution to the activities of Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’-led group.
In a meeting of the House of Representative’s State Affairs and Good Governance Committee today, Home Minister Thapa informed the death of a Biplev- led group member, Kumar Poudel, in police encounter at Lakhandehi on June 20.
According to him, the government has adopted the policy of controlling the group’s armed activities developed lately legally and practically. He further said the government had taken the group’s activities seriously.
He promised to carry out necessary investigations into the case and added that Poudel who had unleashed terror the community through a donation spree was killed in the police encounter.
Prior to this, lawmakers in the meeting demanded that the government bring out the fact behind the murder of Poudel by forming a probe committee. They suggested that the government bring the Biplap group to talks.
Meanwhile, the committee directed the Home Ministry to bring out the fact behind the murder by forming a probe committee and submit the report within seven days. (RSS)
