Prime Minister KP Sharma oli unveils a statute of Colonel Ujir Singh Thapa in Rupandehi
Rupandehi, April 20: The victory celebration is being observed in Jitgadhi in Rupandehi district today.
Commemorating the day Nepali forces led by Colonel Ujir Singh Thapa defeated British forces at the site some 204 years ago. The event is taking place at the Jitgadhi fort located on the banks of the Tinau river in ward no. 1 of the Butwal Sub-metropolis. The day is being observed as a national festival of Province 5 since last year. On the occasion, Prime Minister Oli has unveiled a statue of Colonel Ujir Singh Thapa.
Present in the event are Prime Minister KP Sharma oli, Deputy Prime minister and Minister for Defense Ishor Pokharel, Chief of Province 5 Umakanta Jha, Chief minister Sankar Pokharel, Nepali Congress Parliamentary party Chief whip Bal Krishna Khand and representatives of federal and provincial parliament.
