Opposition alliance to register writ petition against HoR resolution on Monday

Kathmandu, May 23: A meeting of the opposition political parties’ held today has collected signatures of the Member of Parliamentarians (MPs) to file a writ petition at the Supreme Court against the House of Representatives (HoR) dissolution.

Opposition party leaders today gathered at the Federal Parliament and collected the signatures of lawmakers for the purpose.

Senior leaders from Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (UML) Madhav Nepal faction, Janata Samajwadi Party Upendra-Bhattarai faction, Rastriya Janamorcha gathered at the federal parliament to collect their signatures and also submitted their citizenship certificates.

According to CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, though they were preparing to register the writ petition today, it could not happen due to time constrain adding that they will go to the Supreme Court on Monday.

Prachanda added that a total of 149 lawmakers signed for the writ petition today to register at the SC.

He shared that they have almost finalized the draft of the writ and will complete by this evening.

Similarly, NC senior leader Ramchandra Poudel stated that they have collected the signatures of the majority lawmakers.
