Six killed, five missing in Gulmi landslide

Gulmi, July 23: Nine people were killed after a landslide buried them at Satyawati rural municipality in Gulmi district today.

The police have said that 63 years old Durga Bahadur Sijali, 34 years old Dil Kumari BK, 9 years old Darshan BK of Satyabati -3 and Nirmala BK, Shibani BK, Hemanta BK, Pankhu BK, Anjani BK and Chhali BK of Satyabati-4  died in the landslide.

In the disaster, four people are still missing. The police said the search of the missing Maya BK and Boby BK of Satyabati -3 and Suman BK and Tara BK of Satyabati -8 have gone missing. Likewise, Sita Gautam of Galkot8 Baglung died after being buried in a landslide that hit her cowshed.

Similarly, 33 years old Dhrijja Majhi of Aathbisha rural municipality of Dailekh died in a bus accident. seven others were also injured in the incident. Moreover, two persons died when a goods laden lorry hit an auto-rickshaw in Hetauda of Makawanpur today according to the police.

Meanwhile, issuing a statement, Nepali Congress has express grief over the demise and disappearance of the people in the landslide. Nepali Congress has extended condolences to the bereaved families of those who lost lives in the landslide at Stayabti of Gulmi. Nepali Congress has also urged the government to manage relief to the victims and lead the immediate rescue of the injured ones.
