Two killed when police and Biplav-led group exchange fire in Bhojpur

Bhojpur, July 10: Two persons died when police and Netra Bikram Chand (Biplav)-led group exchanged fire in Bhojpur district headquarters this morning.

Chief District Officer, Nurhari Khatiwada informed the deceased have been identified as Police Constable Sanjeev Rai and Okhaldhunga In-charge of Netra Bikram Chand-led group, Nir Kumar Rai.

Similarly, Police Constable Khomnath Bhattarai was injured in the incident and is currently receiving treatment at District Hospital in Bhojpur. Both Sanjeev and Nir Kumar were taken to the hospital soon after they were hit by gunfire. Doctors declared them dead upon arrival. Police say security has been beefed up at the district headquarters after the incident.

 Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police today briefed the House of Representatives’ State Affairs and Good Governance Committee about the firing in Bhojppur.

In the committee meeting held this morning, Nepali Congress lawmakers Dilendra Prasad Badu and Dila Sangraula demanded that the committee be informed about the incident.

According to the Nepal Police chief, the Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ Group all of a sudden fired at the police squad mobilized for the security of a place where the local market was taking place in Bhojpur municipality-7, leaving policeman Sanjib Rai injured. He had suffered a chest injury.
